Mark and Pierre first collaborated in 2009 in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. As the founder of Think Energy Inc., Mark was already making waves in the budding renewable energy market. His passion for renewable microgrids grew throughout his work on Richard Branson's Necker Island, a philanthropic project part of Carbon War Room’s Ten Island Challenge. He realized that with the right economics, engineering, and design, it was possible to end reliance on fossil fuels by transitioning to renewable energy. Mark's long-term experience in solar gave him an industry advantage. He was certain renewable energy was at a tipping point and saw an opportunity to push the envelope and make renewables economically accessible to all.

​Pierre, a New Orleans native, has witnessed the significance of humanitarian-integrated solar projects – especially in the wake of climate disaster. At the time, Mark knew Pierre's demonstrated success with Make it Right Solar would be the key to taking the industry to the next level. Through hard work and determination, 127 Energy exploded into the renewable energy market through development, project finance, and smart system design. Mark and Pierre’s mutual passion for environmental and social justice provided the foundation for 127 Energy and continues to drive the strategic direction of the company to this day.

Mark Crowdis
Chief Executive Officer

Mark leads 127 Energy with passion, commitment, and expertise. Starting his career in 1997, he found a niche for himself early on through his work with Green Mountain Energy. Success in identifying, planning, and scaling Green Mountain Energy's new business line led Mark to launch his own company – Think Energy Inc.– in 2000.

Mark built Think Energy Inc. upon years of professional experience in the energy and environmental sectors. He served as the President of Think Energy Inc. until its acquisition by CohnReznick LLP. Mark went on to successfully develop and manage new portfolio solar projects of more than 1 gigawatts around the world.

When working on new solar projects, Mark integrates both technical expertise and a genuine love of solar energy. His direct insight on the retail and wholesale electricity markets has leveraged that knowledge when helping clients define, acquire and implement renewable energy systems.

Mark earned his B.A. in History from University of California- Davis and an M.S. from the Johns Hopkins University in Environmental Science and Policy.

Pierre Moses
​President

To achieve climate resiliency, Pierre believes zero carbon energy needs to be affordable and accessible to all. In his early career, Pierre founded and successfully scaled Make It Right Solar, a for-profit subsidiary of Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation. He went on to structure and complete more than 250 solar PV projects – 130 of which were installed on LEED Platinum buildings. His project expertise includes public and private portfolios of distributed generation assets and solar plus storage microgrids.

Within roles at private equity and transaction advisory firms, Pierre helped infrastructure investors source, underwrite, and execute solar PV and energy storage investments. He currently serves as the President of 127 Energy, heading operations in clean energy finance and project development.

​Pierre holds a BS from the College of Charleston and an MBA from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business where he continues to serve as an adjunct professor and board member of the Tulane Energy Institute.

Test. Chris Choppin joined the 127 Energy team in 2021 to help accelerate the transition to renewable energy in the US. A long-time advocate for fighting climate change, Chris wants to bring about a shift in the way we produce and consume energy. He is currently involved in all aspects of project development services offered by 127 Energy, including customer outreach and market research. Previously, Chris worked in the Environmental Services industry, doing stream and wetland restoration. Chris studied at Tulane University, where he earned a dual Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Spanish. He was born and raised in the greater DC area.

Liz handles finance and operations management for 127 Energy. With a varied background in small business administration, project management, and the environmental sciences, Liz brings a well-rounded perspective to the 127 Energy team. Liz has experience with private sector, non-profit, and government organizations and works to ensure smooth operations between project participants. Liz holds a BA from Boston University and an MS from the Johns Hopkins University In Environmental Science and Policy.
