Overview
127 Energy is providing a 5 MW/11.8 MWh battery storage system as part of a resilient clean energy microgrid for a biotech company in Oregon. The project will establish environmentally intelligent on-site resilient and reliable sources of electricity able to meet 100% of the facility’s needs for 2+ hours. The microgrid system will sense and respond to grid power losses within milliseconds and instantaneously begin the process of seamlessly switching from utility grid-based power to the solar and energy storage system. The primary purpose of the microgrid is energy resiliency, but secondary uses such as demand response and time-of-use arbitrage are built into the system. This will afford the biotech company energy savings in addition to an assured supply of clean, reliable power independent of the utility power grid.
